Cloth designs and makes contemporary textiles for the home and high end commercial interiors. Based in Sydney this small independent team focuses on producing natural, handmade fabrics with an earthy, relaxed Australian feel. The fabrics are designed by Julie Paterson. Printed on heavy weight hemp, linen and organic cotton, each design begins its creative journey as a quick sketch in a note book. Julie ap- proaches her design process as an artist noticing and recording details of urban and rural landscapes, turning these small im- ages into paintings on found wood, then into prototype prints on fabric in her studio. The best of the samples become the new designs. They are printed on 20 mtr tables by a craftsman in a big shed in country NSW. |
