Donghia – Live a well tailored Life
Angelo Donghia, the son of a tailor, was formally trained as an Interior Designer and joined the NY based Yale Burge Interiors firm. In 1972 with the passing of Yale Burge, the firm was renamed Donghia Associates which focused in the areas of residential, hospitality and contract interior design. In 1976, Donghia expanded into fabrics and wallpapers and the first Donghia Textiles Showroom opened in Los Angeles. Its success led to the opening of Donghia Furniture which was established two years later. Producing upholstery and case pieces, Mr. Donghia continued with the growth of his companies expanding his network of showrooms and products across the United States. Angelo Donghia passed away in 1985, with Donghia continuing as a private company. In the spring of 2005, the company was purchased by the Rubelli Group of Venice, Italy. Then in 2020 the Kravet family acquired the Donghia brand name, with all its archives and inventory.
Today, the spirit and essence of this renowned American brand has been bolstered through the introduction of new textiles, furniture, carpet and wallcovering alongside the archive collection of designs which date back to its foundations in 1970s New York City. It continues to thrive under the stewardship of the Kravet company.
